Clock is ticking on Sanchez...Need to cut bait even if they make Higgy the fulltime receiver until a better option is available.
Will Brian and analytics will do this? This bothers me more than anything this off season. It was my top priority last year and this year too. I watch almost every game and not cutting bait last off season was so stupid. AND WE MAY PAY SANCHEZ 8M THIS YEAR. I don't feel Higgy is the answer but I will take anybody (Sands was traded!!!). Starting Pitching has been my issue since CC and not having a good SC hurts the pitcher. Sanchez is NOT a starting catcher, Torresa was not a SS, Andujar was NOT a 3rd, and I liked Garcia as SP. I don't know if it's our development (another one of my issues) but the time for 2016/2017 has passed for me. Trade both Sanchez and Judge (paying Stanton 32M - 3M = 29M + 20M for judge + 50M! is like 30M for Chapman and Britton for RP and not a SP)
Kluber pitch his no hitter game and Cole uses Higgy not Sanchez but Higgy has to put the bat on the ball and I think 30?
A bunch of us said this at the time. Also, that 2nd WC is a boon to the spending model that Hal and Cash have built. It appears they will spend right up to the cap and have a top 5 payroll, but won't ever go for it. This model will never work with the kind of GM the Yankees have. If they want to put together an organization that can continuously draft and develop talent, they can be a force at their current payroll. However, with Cashman as GM, they need to be able to outspend everyone by a good amount like they were for a period in the 2000s in order to be legitimate contenders. What we have is a treadmill model that will never yield a championship.
I know some of you probably don't remember the mid 1980's and even less the late 60's and early 70's but there was a time when the Mets were the #1 team in NY. And thanks to Hal and Cashman we could see that happening again very soon.
I remember those days very well. The talk of the town was Gooden, Strawberry, Gary Carter, Keith Hernandez, etc.

One more thing to add to this. In 2017 they had a very good team with a legit chance to go all the way, a stud starter would increase their chances significantly. Justin Verlander was made available by the Tigers at the deadline and the Yankees were on his list of teams that he would approve a trade. Hal refused to approve a Verlander trade because he wanted to get under the cap. Imagine how things may have played out if we got Verlander instead of Houston. This tells you everything you need to know about Hal.

This cannot be emphasized enough.
As much as we hate on Houston for cheating in the 2017 ALCS, they would have never been in that position in the first place if not for Hal's frugality.
He literally gave away a championship in 2017.
Our collective anger at Houston is misdirected.

Sometimes I even wonder if 2017 was a good thing. Yankees were not expected to go deep in the playoffs that season. When they did it re enforced the "crapshoot " theory. Was a great run but long term it might have altered the thinking of Cashman and Hal.
So damn predictable. I won't comment further as it will very likely get me banned:

I honestly wouldn't mind this ONLY if this comes with a trade for Olson, SP, C and possible CF upgrade.
